The Spider Incident
While I was in Vancouver, I had a spider incident. I was getting the pull out out and getting ready to go to bed and then I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It looked like something was going into the closet. Now I was staying at a friend's uncle's place and didn't want too much to be disturbed but I just had to find out what the heck that was.
So I opened up the closet door and was relieved first of all to see that the closet was pretty much empty. That meant that I didn't have to worry about snooping around. I look and I saw that there was a spider on the ground. I'm from Edmonton and we are a pretty northern city. We have spider that are about the size of loonies up here....and for anybody else reading that would be about the size of quarters. So they aren't going to win any battles with tarantulas anytime soon but they are fairly sizeable. This one was at least twice the size of ones in Edmonton and the biggest one I have seen NOT in an aquarium locked up. Nick and I agreed that there was no way that we were going to leave this spider loose to roam the basement sweet by itself. So we tried to do the old sheet of paper and cup trick. I was the man with the paper. I tried to scoop the spider on the sheet but this thing moved so quickly. Everytime I zigged, it zagged. I couldn't get it on the paper. Nick promptly shoved me out of the way and put the cup over the spider. Once that was done, we he shoved the paper under it. Sadly, while doing that the spider lost a limb.
Regardless, he didn't want to kill it. Stepping on it would have left too much of a mess. He left the house and let it loose outside. Despite its early twitching, it made a safe escape, with one less limb. We left, unwounded with our limbs intact and with a great story.
Oh and some great pictures.

Yes the spider was very sweet. You got most of the details of the story right, but I think I need to emphasize that I was the one who had to do the dirty work because someone else was too worried about it getting too close.
Ah figures good thing you let the truth be known Nick! ~Jackie
