Photos of Paris
Well I know that my trip to Europe was awhile ago and you would be correct in thinking that I should have posted these pictures sooner. I have procrastinated. That is the nice thing about this blog. I have no responsibilities and obligations toward it.
Anyway, here are some of the pictures from the trip. Unlike the rest of Europe when I was there, Paris was cold. Okay well not really. It was just above 20. However, when you were used to 35 and above it was a shock to the system. Now I know what some countries feel like when they have to play soccer in Edmonton in May. We stayed in the Meridien Montparnasse. This was a fancy area in Paris. There was the Tour Montparnasse right next to us. We also had a killer view. Since we were on the 13th floor we could easily see the Louvre and Notre Dame. 5 minutes from the hotel, you could see the Eiffel Tower. One night while walking out there we saw the Eiffel Tower with sparkling lights all over it. Pretty cool. Some people just hate Parisians and their attitude. I've been there twice and don't have anything really negative to say about them and the city. Sure it's big but with the metro you can get to anywhere you want to in less than 20 minutes. Maybe I'm biased because I can speak French. Sure it's been 4 years since I've spoke any of it but I tried and they seemed to be able to understand me or at least appreciated the broken French. A friend, Wade, said that you either love London or Paris, not both. That doesn't bode well for me and London, when I do get a chance to go there.
We had a great tour of Versailles as well. It was nice to see the gardens in the summer instead of March when nothing was there.
When we went to Sacré Coeur, the other reason to go there was to check out the Moulin Rouge because Jackie wanted to. When we got there she was disappointed. Ewan MacGregor failed to show up. So did Satine. Regardless, we both did not contract TB so at least we left with our health.
Shopping was great. I once again met up with a store called Celio. It is like a combination of Urban Outfitters, American Eagle and perhaps a bit of the Gap...when the Gap was better. I got some sweet shirts there and a sweet jacket that was reduced from 60 to 15 Euros.
Anyway I think the pictures speak for themselves. There is that famous phrase saying the same thing...here they are...
1. The Winged Goddess at the Louvre. We spent a whole day there and saw as much as we could. We stalked Clinton from what not to wear. Sadly I only have a picture of his hair. Jackie also claims that he gave her the once over and was fine with what she was wearing until she discovered she was wearing running shoes with a skirt!!
2. Sacré Coeur. It rained there that day and there is no shelter around there.
3. Under the Eiffel Tower. Warning for those interested, there are lots of gypsies wanting money...no you don't speak english.
4. At Versailles in 'les jardins'. Notice I'm sporting a stylish Lacoste t-shirt. Unlike some, I only have this one article. I also don't wear it that often either.
5. The view from our hotel. Not bad considering we have a sweet view of the top of Notre Dame. I'm sure not many people have seen the roof.
