Pictures of the Cote d'Azur
Here in my next installment of pictures. The city that we stayed in was Nice. I had been there before on my France trip when I was in Grade Nine. That was seven years ago. Unfortunately, when we were there the first time it was in late March and it meant that the water was cold. This time, it was the end of July and beginning of August. It was over 30 everyday with the ocean as blue as the skies and was in one word incredible. While on Le Promenade Des Anglais sitting on a beach and talking about life, Jackie and I noticed this man with an old hat, red beard, hawaiian shirt, cargo shorts, ugly shoes and hiked up socks. Jackie said to me, "That looks like Ron Howard". I was like "yeah sorta." When he came closer to us, he said something to the woman he was walking with (presumably his wife). Jackie, being the movie guru she is, knew instantly it was Ron Howard. This was arguably the most famous person we had ever seen up close, besides hometwon hero Fernando Pisani who we saw on the plane to Toronto. We didn't know what to do. We didn't want to bug him and be like the paparazzi. Smugly I said to Jacke that we should have told him "his rendition of The Da Vinci Code was crap and that he ruined a literary classic". Oh well such is life.
Since we also went to Monaco, Cannes, and St. Paul de Vence I have titled this post as the Côte d'Azur. Unfortunately, camera died when we were there and Jackie has most of the good pictures. I think these ones capture some of the best stuff even if there are only 3.
1. The Monte Carlo casino at night. Some of the cars were worth more than I could ever afford in a lifetime. I took many at night and this was the best one.
2. In front of a railing that overlooked an incredible harbor and the road where the Formula 1 Monte Carlo Grand Prix is held.
3. The view looking south from one of the highest points of St. Paul de Vence, a great Medievil city 25 minutes from Nice.
