Now the Oilers get respect from the CBC

Well I've been back from Florida for about a week now.

In regards to the trip it was awesome. When I get all of my pictures ready I can talk more about it. This post is dedicated to hockey.

When I was in Flordida, the unfortunate thing was that games 1-4 of the Edmonton Oilers - San Jose Sharks series was on. The trip to Florida was made a little bit tougher due to the fact that Florida's coverage of the NHL sucked. The games were of course not on television. It seems that Baseball, basketball and bibles reign supreme in Florida. ESPN showed maybe 30 seconds of the highlights from a game. The highlights were minimal except for the 3OT game. To check to see how the OIlers were doing, I had to rely on the ticker on the bottom of ESPN. Lame to say the least.

I got to watch the last two games of the series at home. The games were more fast paced than the ones against Detroit. The quality was just incredible. It seemed that the Oilers could do no wrong. Amazingly enough, I couldn't remember the last time the Edmonton Oilers won 4 games in a row.

Anyway what I really wanted to talk about in this new series against the Ducks is that CBC was brought out their 'A Crew' for the series. Harry Neale and Bob Cole, the longtime announcers for the 5 o'clock game on Hockey Night in Canada were calling the game. Don Cherry and Ron McLean were there too. It's a far cry from the Detroit series when I think the Oilers were being called by somebody off the street. It seems that the Oilers are finally getting respect from the rest of Canada. When I refer to the rest of Canada, everyone knows that I'm referring to the centre of the Universe -> Toronto.

For the rest of the Oilers playoff run, the Oilers are now Canada's team!
