Olympics

The Olympics will be soon coming to an end in Turino and I'm quite disappointed. With every olympic venue, I watch more and more olympics.

Canada at the present moment is in third place with 24 medals and is likely to finish in third place behind both Germany and the United States. I'd also like to add that Canada has a much smaller population than either of those two countries. Canada wanted to finish with 25 olympics. To me, it first appeared like a lofty goal. I mean last Olympics in Salt Lake City, in North America, the Canadians only managed to get 17 medals. However, the Canadian Olympians have really perservered. What's even better with the medal performance of the Canadians is that we got our medal total with over 10 fourth place finishes.

I'm especially proud of the Canadian women. They have won more medals than the men. Cindy Klassen perhaps won the most medals of any olympian at these olympics this year. She had a tremendous performace.

The only real disappointment has been the Men's Olympic Hockey Team. To even use the word team would be an insult to other teams in the olympics this year regardless of their sports. They weren't in any of the games, couldn't score and took too many stupid penalties. I also hated the sound bits such as "It's not like we weren't trying". You can't get to the NHL on not trying. Of course you tried, you just didn't deliver...and disappointed a hockey nation for (hopefully no more than 4 years).

I hope to see all of the medal winning olympians in Vancouver 2010. Then we will not finish third, but first place.
