Sweatpants and exams
I've noticed from high school until now...that when it comes to exam time, girls change their appearance.
When exam time doesn't hit they all dress very nicely. However, the week of exams and especially exam day all of them decide that they should just wear sweat pants and sweatshirt or hoody. As well, their hair is never as nice.
My question is why? What gives them the right to do this. I'd venture a guess and say that about 50% of girls do this but only about 20% of guys or less. I haven't taken a stats course for awhile but I sure know that the difference between those results is significant! Are the clothes that girls normally wear not comfortable and so when exam time hits they all of a sudden are overcome with an urge to be extremely comfortable? In dress clothes to jeans I always feel exactly the same. What's more, I'd say that I feel less comfortable in sweats than other pants.
Another reason why the female sex will never be understood.

I admit, I definitely dress down on exam days. Why, you ask? The reasons are several:
1. I've been up late studying, I'm exhausted, and I often want to do a quick review prior to the exam. Thus, the decision is made to salvage the hour that is normally dedicated to getting primped and primed in the morning, and either spend that time sleeping or studying.
2. Most females spend a lifetime trying to live up to societal standards and expecations of beauty. During exam time, there is the added pressure of days, maybe weeks, preparing for an exam that is administered and scheduled by outside authoritarian forces over which we have no control. Now it's time for a silent act of rebellion to do something on our own accord, not based on societal expectations or outside authority. In a way, it's a declaration of "I don't care anymore; it's not even worth my effort!"
3. Post-exam days are meant for celebrating. That often means getting your hair done, spending the evening with friends, or just vegging out. Why get all beautiful in the morning if you're heading straight to the salon after the exam? It's duplication of effort, and a waste of time!
4. Examination dressing down is act of comraderie, a stance of "We're in this together."
5. Yes, sweats and sweatshirts ARE comfortable. Proper examination preparation also means preparing for the long-haul of a grueling exam, ensuring you won't be concerned with the shoes that are hurting your toes or the hair that keeps falling into your eyes, for example. For me, temperature control is a big deal -- thus, my exam day attire almost always consisted of a certain red shirt, layered with my med school zippered hoodie. This provided many choices for my climate control and comfort!

Yes...I think that you covered the answer very well...I'm glad I fostered such intense thinking on the subject
