My first exam
Friday afternoon I had my first final in med school. It was for intro block...a class designed to get most people on even ground with each other since we are from disciplines. The block had varying subjects from the heart, signal transduction, genetics, anatomy, disease, pharmacology and everything in between. It meant that studying could become difficult at times since there wasn't any homogeneity between subjects and it was difficult to tie subjects together.
Nevertheless the exam went fairly well. I basically took the whole two hours to do it when the organizer of the class claimed that it would only take us from 45 minutes to 90 minutes. Mostly the dent people were there at the end so I had a bit of a chuckle about that.
The location where we wrote the exam was in the Lister Banquet hall with a larger than normal desk and a very comfy chair. I really like writing exams in these choice locations. They even provide students with Halls and kleenex because they know that people are likely to be sick (literally and figuratively). They take care of their students far better than in undergrad.
On a final note, I think the best part about it is that when you have an exam everything else shuts down. So what does this mean? It means that after the exam is over you don't have to review for other subjects. You also don't have to worry about falling behind in the other subjects that you were taking. As well, you have to take the same things that other people are taking so it means that you are on a level playing field with other people. It's great.
Now bring on Triple III. Infection, Immunity and Inflammation....not necessarily in that order.
