Teeth in the Mouth

So...learning about the mouth is quite complicated.

For those out there who are interested here are some quick teeth definitions so that you can impress your friends with your oral knowledge

-Maxillary- Teeth found on the upper jaw
-Mandibular- Teeth found on the lower jaw
-Deciduous- Teeth that fall out (ie. Baby teeth)
-Succudaneous- Replace deciduous teeth
-Non-succudaneous- Teeth that come in but don't replace deciduous teeth

Each tooth is different. There are four quadrants in adults and 8 in each (32 teeth)

1. Central Incisor
2. Lateral Incisor
3. Cuspid
4. 1st Premolar
5. Second Premolar
6. 1st molar
7. 2nd molar
8. 3rd molar

Kids only have 20 teeth. They lack premolars and a 3rd molar. So in an adult when those come in those are the non-succudaneous teeth.

When ID'ing teeth you need to specify the jaw, the side and then the type of tooth. For example your upper back right molar would be a:

"Maxillary Right third molar"

Interesting I know!

More to come later......
