Portable Blogs

I've only had this blog for about a month and a half or so and I've come to a couple of realizations.

1. I need better material.
2. I wish I had a portable blog.

The first one is quite self explanatory. Have you read my material? Not of the highest quality. Then again, its summer and well, my mind is not on discussion which unfortunately is the name of my blog. I think that once schools hits I'll have more interesting (at least one can hope) things to discuss.

The second one may seem weird but the fact remains that even though you can blog from any computer anywhere, I seem to do my best "this would be perfect on my blog" when I'm very far away from the computer. I mean last week Lyle Oberg, who is one of Klein's ministers....I think he's either the infrastructure minister or transportation minister (I'm being polite because there are far better adjectives I could use). Anyway, he announced about a year after Klein announced to the citizens of Cowtown that Alberta was debt-free that the Alberta government should take out a 7 billion dollar loan to pay for infrastructure such as roads, schools and capital projects that were left out when the government was paying down the debt so quickly. Basically, everyone who has lived in Alberta knows that being debt-free doesn't necessarily translate into having no debts at all.

So instead of ranting about week old news I'll just get to my point. I had much better thoughts regarding this event when I was walking mindlessly at work than when I'm on the computer. As a consequence my content on the blog suffers because I don't put any discussion about it on the blog. So that's why I need a portable blog where I could just jot it down the moment I think of something. Of course, something like that would be called "a pen and paper".

I guess the conundrum is this: Should I be satisfied with a less than my best blog or should I make more of an effort to have more stimulating things to discuss?

If I choose the latter, I fear I'll only be discussing Bush and the Klein government as my topics.

Well, I guess that's a start anyway. It can't get much worse.

More than anything else, this blog is for YOU, so don't feel like you have to cater to others in terms of how interesting your material is. If you get satisfaction from posting on some topic, then post. It may mean you won't get any comments, but I've learned that you have to kind of get over that. My last 6 posts have gotten a total of 1 comment I think, but I wanted to post them so I did, that's what a blog is for I think. There's also a whole subculture of mobile blogging, or "MoBlogs". They use their cell phones or PDAs with internet capability to post. Not sure if you have one of those, but just so you know it's out there.

You and me both, dude. You've seen my blog -- it's like a 13-year old girl's daily journal! But hey, I don't claim to be entertaining...!

My friend Jason has a hilarious blog. Remind me to send you the address sometime...

One more thing... I think both of us are sufficiently busy in our lives and with our educations that we do NOT need one more "assignment" to be scrutinized. I agree that these blogs should be purely enjoyable and should not be a source of stress under pressure to "perform" for our readers.

(And now I will step off the soapbox!)
